Keith Cowie looking good for TOTB VI
After recent successful testing, Keith Cowie's RB Motorsport Nissan Skyline is looking good for the forthcoming TOTB VI

Keith Cowie Sets New World Record In His Road Legal Drag Car

Content The sun was shining and the turnout was tremendous at this
weekend’s TOTBVI at Elvington on Sunday. Top tuners and privateers from all
around the country came to compete in what has become the top UK event
for proving the performance of tuned road legal cars.

Cowie was determined to set a new world record in his TD turbocharged
and RB Motorsport tuned Nissan Skyline R32 GTR, which boasts an
impressive 1250 BHP Garrett GT series spec single turbo. Keith has been looking
to smash the world record, which was set in Japan and has stood for
many years. Yesterday, on July 29th 2007 he did just that. Time recording
was done by means of satellite to give a more reliable reading. The
proven results were a fantastic 0-300 KPH (0-187.5 MPH) in just
12.65secs. Smashing the previous record by 0.45secs! Understated as ever, Keith
smiled “I’ve done it”.

Further stats from the data logging show that Cowie achieved 0-60MPH in
2.5secs, 0-100MPH in 4.35secs, 0-150MPH in 8.09secs and 0-200MPH in
14.75secs all in the space of half a mile.

The top contenders in other categories ran exceptionally well. Vying
for the top spot in the 4WD category were TD customers and renowned
tuners Roger Clark Motorsport, Fensport, Lateral Performance customer Andy
Forrest and Norris Designs. Andy won the TD trophy for the 4WD with a
winning 9.27secs at 156 MPH. Neil Booth in his TD turbocharged Westfield
was delighted with his win in the RWD category, setting a time of
9.86secs at 154 MPH. Olly Clark came first in the Handling circuit with a
time of 36.66secs. Olly faced stiff competition, including Gavin Renshaw
with his Mitsubishi Evo 5 RS, prepared by NR Autosport, sporting the
latest TD modified Evogreen hybrid. The fastest TD turbocharged car in
the FWD class was James Hodson with his VW Golf. The prizes were ably
handed out by the stunning TD girls.

The ex-Jap tuned yellow Skyline of Mick Begley got into the 9 second
bracket after two and a half years of trying. Since he fitted the two TD
turbos, re-spec'd and rebuilt his engine, he has smashed his own
record. Mick was overjoyed with his achievement. Nigel Ogram, in his every
day road car, beat his personal best at TOTB using the same TD turbo. He
said, "I use this car every day to go to work and for pleasure. I just
drove up here today, put my racing gear on and beat my own record."

The event also featured a team prize, which this year was awarded to
the Subaru contingent (22B.COM).

Peter Marsh, MD of Turbo Dynamics said, “Today was a successful day all
round. Our customers came up trumps again this year. It is always
enjoyable to meet with them here and watch them prove their skills at
tuning and driving. An ever growing and substantial number of TOTB entrants
run TD turbochargers. It gives me a chance to meet in person those whom
we only know by voice and get to talk not only technical, but also on
a more social basis face to face.”
